• Tell us about a memorable moment or challenge from your fleet career that shaped the way you lead today.
• I was offered my job as the fleet manager on February 7, 2020. So becoming a first-time manager one month before the pandemic shut down the world has certainly taught me how to be flexible, to use creative and critical thinking skills, and to remain calm during chaotic times.
• What keeps you passionate about fleet management after all these years?
• I love working for a municipal fleet, specifically because there are so many different areas of the community that we are able to help impact, from sanitation trucks to mowing right of ways to emergency response vehicles, working behind the scenes, I know that we have contributed to other departments being able to provide critical services to our residents and visitors, and that's a really great feeling.
• What is one APWA Fleet resource, event, or opportunity that every fleet professional should take advantage of?
• Most definitely being a member of the fleet management Committee. I would encourage all fleet professionals to become knowledge team members, to be able to open yourself up to networking with your peers, talking with people who are experiencing the same problems that you are maybe in a different region. But also being able to hear how they're able to overcome some of those, it helps you to get new ideas for the same issues. So I would absolutely encourage athlete professionals to get involved, to network, to meet your peers, and to become knowledge team members. Absolutely.
