- How has your training through Paragon helped you as a Grooming Professional?
- I think Paragon did a really great job of helping jumpstart me into the grooming industry, especially because I went through a private salon versus going to somewhere more corporate where there tends to be a little more structured training and information. So I was able to get a head start from a lot of other groomers who have had zero experience. I had no personal experience in salon grooming. I've only bathed a couple of dogs with my wife in the past. So having that structured informational system to really help gain a lot of knowledge on safety, health, and what I'm doing and what the industry actually looks like was a really big benefit to getting me really started very quickly with under a year, being able to join a salon, become a groomer, and really start excelling at my career.
- What influence has Paragon had in your career?
- I think Pargon has had a very positive influence on my career of developing me as a very professional, groomer, as well as somebody who's always kind of interested in furthering my experience and my career. Through more knowledge and education and everything like that, and Paragon did a great job of kind of starting that, giving me a really good foundation and good building blocks to start off to further my career, not just getting started, but as an avenue of be developing my skills, honing myself in and becoming a groomer.
- How did your Paragon Mentor make a difference in your learning experience?
- I think my paragon mentor Bethany was very helpful through the process. She was always available for conversation and kind of help when I needed it. She was wonderful at being able to stay in touch even when we weren't actively discussing grooming stuff, even holidays popped around. It was nice to know that there was always somebody there that I could ask questions if I ran into any issues. She gave very reasonable and real feedback. It wasn't, didn't feel like my hand was being held, but it also didn't feel like somebody was being overly meticulous with the way that she graded everything. So I think it was a very wonderful experience to have somebody that truly cared about the craft and was willing to help me out, as well as point out areas where I could improve on, and I think it was, it was, it was a great experience.
- What advice would you give a new student starting the Paragon Program?
- My advice that I would give a new student who is just starting the Paragon program would be definitely to use all the resources that are given to you. Working with the trainer, even though we weren't in person, was a great way for me to ask any specific questions or deal with any issues that I was running into, as well as all of the different equipment and everything that's available to you and books and information were very, very crucial for being able to Uh, start out with such a strong base of knowledge in the industry. So definitely being able to utilize all those given resources and all of the resources that you might have personally, whether it's co-workers, friends, people who are willing to kind of help you out and give you additional advice as you're going through the journey and kind of starting in this industry, it's definitely a very important thing that can really make or break your experience.
