John Xiong - JETC presentation summary
Summary
John Xiong will present at JETC on using EradiFluor technology to destroy PFAS using hydrated electrons. The technology has shown promising results in laboratory and field tests, with near 100% defluorination achieved. It operates under room temperature and ambient pressure conditions, making it cost-effective and efficient for PFAS destruction.

- What will your presentation at the JETC conference be about?
- My presentation at the JETC conference will be about PFAS destruction using an innovative destruction technology, which we call EradiFluor. EradiFluor has been developed to destroy PFAS using an innovative advanced reduction process. The technology is primarily based on hydrated electrons that are generated in the ultraviolet UV sulfite system. Hydro electrons is a strong reductant and has been demonstrated effective in breaking down carbon -fluorine bonds and therefore destroy PFAS from the environment forever. The technology development has been supported with the funding provided by a number of DOD applied research programs, including SERDP, ESTCP, and the Air Force Civil Engineering Center DAA programs. Extensive laboratory study has been completed. And a recent field demonstration has been completed at the naval facility on the East Coast and we're also in the process of planning to implement a second demonstration at a former Air Force site early this year on the West Coast. And test results demonstrate that PFAS can be destroyed through this process and near 100% of the defluorination was achieved. And this system operated under room temperature and ambient pressure conditions. Therefore, there's no need for specialized equipment or parts and the system operates smoothly with close to 100% operation uptake and the energy cost for PFAS distruction with this system is also low. So we believe this is a technology that has a lot of potential applications at DOD sites and in this presentation, we'll share with the the audience what the technology is about and some of the results we collected. Thank you.
