- How did you get your start in grooming?
- Hi guys, my name is Liz Thompson. I'm one of the mentors over at the Paragon School of Pet Grooming, and I want to kind of talk about how I get my start in grooming. So grooming actually kind of randomly fell into my lap. Um, in high school, I worked at a small locally owned, excuse me, boarding facility where I occasionally gave like baths to dogs, but I never really considered grooming as a career. Years later, I realized that business college wasn't for me in my first semester, and I also tried like pre-vet at a community college, but I realized I couldn't handle the emotional end of the end of life side of veterinary care. So that was hard for me. Um, I was between jobs, I was looking for a roommate. I met a girl who who I interviewed for roommate, um, position, who mentioned she was about to start at a local grooming school and the conversation kind of sparked into something, and I decided to look into it and I ended up enrolling in the Peron program many, many years ago. Um, funny enough, the girl never showed up at the school, kind of ghosted me entirely, and, you know, it just didn't work out. Um, although things didn't work out with her, I really do believe that moment was a blessing in disguise, and it really, it led me to this career that I absolutely love. Um, I do feel like this is just, you know, something that's uncommon because a lot of people, you know, discover it, you know, when they're really young or they've had family that kind of worked into it. So I think it's a really unique story that I was able to kind of have it fall into my lap and I ended up just absolutely loving it.
