- Tell us a little bit about yourself and your career background.
- Hello, my name is Matt Bradley. I'm the senior Vice president of Risk Solutions for Crisis. 24 I have 25 years of security operations and intelligence experience. 14 of those with the CIA including three overseas tours in Latin America. The last 11 years, I've been in the private sector, uh helping organizations create and implement security solutions. I've been a member of ASIS for the last eight years.
- What pyramid layer are you discussing today, and why is it important to be a successful CSO?
- Today, I'm talking about the pyramid level called Future Proofing. It consists of three components: vision, strategy and resources. The reason why I think this layer is so important for a CSO is because without a vision, the people perish without a strategy. You're unable to realise your vision. And of course, without those resources, you can't implement your strategy.
- How do you use the skills in this layer in your daily work?
- I use these skills in a number of ways. I started my job a little less than a year ago and of course it was important at the time to create a vision for what I wanted to accomplish in my job. I then developed a strategy, and now every day I've been fighting for resources. Those resources align with the business objectives and creating value for the company. So the company sees that giving me money is an investment in realising our shared goals.
- How does the CSO Center help you in your work? Why is being a CSO Center member critical?
- ASIS is a large organisation that brings together security professionals from around the world and has many special interest committees. And I consider the CSO Centre to be one of those special interest groups. It helps me in my work because it brings together people like me who are dealing with security issues at a senior level. It's critical to me because it gives us an opportunity to, uh, come to talk with like minded individuals and solve our common problems.
