- How did you get involved in the CSO Center and what is your role on the Board?
- I joined the CSO Center in 2014. After I had the opportunity to meet ASIS staff and members at an introductory event. I am the past chair of the CSO Center Board and I now represent the community on the ASIS International Global Board of Directors.
- What are the main areas in security that you are most passionate about?
- Representation in the security industry. As a nonprofit, non-governmental organization. It's important to me that the rest of the security community has an understanding about what our sector does and how we add value to various security communities. I'm also passionate about leadership development and growth and one of the things I really appreciate about the CSO Center is that it welcomes Deputy CSOs into its membership.
- Why is the CSO Center critical in your success as a senior security executive?
- My CSO Center membership has provided access to some incredible practitioners, educational sessions and mentors. over the years. I really appreciated the range of CSO Center content provided from global security trends, to leadership development, to diverse hiring practices and succession planning. The continuous exchange of ideas and best practices has been critical to my development as a senior security executive.
- What is a fun fact about you that you want to share?
- A fun fact about myself is that I am a huge fan of JRR Tolkien's books, The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings series. And I enjoyed them so much that I named my Havanese dog Thorn Barkin Shield.
